Questions
Is there a penalty for late driving licence renewal in Kenya?
No, NTSA does not charge a late penalty fee for expired licences. However, driving on public roads with an expired licence is a criminal offense under the Traffic Act, subject to an immediate instant fine of Ksh 3,000 by traffic officers.
Can I change from a 1-year renewal to a 3-year renewal after paying?
No. Once a transaction is processed and paid for on eCitizen, it cannot be modified, reversed, or upgraded. You must wait for that chosen period to lapse before switching renewal durations.
