Plain English Explanation
This is a simplified summary to explain this article in clear language. It is not the legal text of the Constitution.
Article 79 of the Kenyan Constitution mandates Parliament to pass legislation establishing an independent ethics and anti-corruption body to oversee and enforce the leadership and integrity standards laid out in Chapter Six. It explicitly grants this body the full status, permanent protections, and operational powers of an independent constitutional commission under Chapter Fifteen of the Constitution. Through this provision, the body is legally empowered to independently investigate breaches, promote ethical conduct, and ensure that all public and state officers strictly comply with their constitutional duties.
