Questions
Can a single parent apply for a child's passport without the other parent's documentation?
Yes. If a parent has sole custody, they must upload an official children's court custody order or a sworn legal affidavit declaring single parentage. If the other parent is deceased, a certified copy of their official Death Certificate must be attached to bypass the joint consent filter.
What is the legal validity period of an ordinary Kenyan child passport?
Unlike adult passports, a minor's passport is valid for exactly 5 years from its date of issuance. This shorter duration is mandated because a child's physical facial features change rapidly as they grow.
